HWOS faculty presents about student project with assistive technology to promote health and wellness in older adults
Chris Delenick, OTD, OTR/L, assistant clinical professor of Health, Wellness, and Occupational Studies (HWOS), joined thousands of participants at the (ATIA) Annual Conference in Orlando earlier this month.
Delenick attended educational sessions focused on a range of topics, including augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), smart home technology, accessible outdoor recreation, low vision, fall prevention, sexual participation, and more.
He was also honored to share knowledge with other attendees — and promote the work of the and its students — through his presentation on the use of commercially available assistive technology products to promote health and wellness in older adults.
The presentation provided an overview of a hands-on, community-based learning experience that HWOS students completed with older adults living independently in a congregate housing setting as an integral part of the course Foundations of Assistive Technology and the new Assistive Technology specialization track within HWOS.
