"Outcast," a selection from Laetitia Borden-Macos' "The Bird's Nest Series," on display now at the Biddeford Campus Center.

Currently on exhibit at the UNE Campus Center in Biddeford are pastel paintings by artist Laetitia Borden-Macos.

Borden-Macos was interested in making art since childhood. She earned an art degree in college and lived in France, Germany, and Arizona before returning to Maine.

Today, Borden-Macos works exclusively in the pastel medium and has enjoyed working with other pastel artists.

According to the artist, nature is Borden-Macos’s inspiration. Her paintings are simple and impressionistic, and exploring beauty in the world with pastels is fulfilling to her. The medium is exciting, she says, and is open to experimentation and capable of producing amazing pieces of art.

On exhibit at the Campus Center is a series of works called “The Bird Nest Series,” the result of members of the artist’s family going through the in vitro fertilization medical process.

Borden-Macos’ works will be on exhibit from May 16 to June 13.
