Stephen Burt brings ‘Intricate Worlds’ art exhibition to Biddeford

Stephen Burt, chair and associate professor of the Departmen of Arts and Communications selected the work of thirteen artists to be featured in an exhibit titled, “Intricate Worlds,” which will be on display at Engine in Biddeford, Maine,  May 1–May 23, 2015. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 2 from 5–7 p.m.

The chosen artists boast a range of experience; some are emerging, while others have regional and national reputations. Those featured include: Kimberly Convery, Fritz Drury, Rachael Eastman, Yizhak Elysashiv, Lauren Fensterstock, Sarah Gorham, Alison Hildreth, Allie Hollinshead, Jon Langford, Mike Libby, Carrie Scanga and Wendy Seller.

“This exhibition is composed of art that I find compelling for its obsessive attention to detail and pictorial structure, “ says Burt. “In these works, narrative abounds – through what is pictured and the process by which the images are made. If the viewer takes time to look carefully, the reward will be an immersion into other worlds.”

is a non-profit organization aiming to make arts-drive programming, cultural development and sustainable creative entrepreneurialism an explicit community value and civic priority in Biddeford.
