Kenneth McCall addresses online pharmacy law in Bangor Daily News

Kenneth McCall, BSPharm, Pharm.D., associate professor for the Department of Pharmacy Practice, was recently interviewed by the Bangor Daily News for his opinion about an ongoing conflict between Maine mail-order pharmacy laws and the FDA.

The article describes the 2013 Maine law that allows patients to order prescription drugs through foreign pharmacies, and the FDA鈥檚 efforts to detain those medications once they arrive in the country.  McCall expressed concern that the law puts consumers in a difficult position because it conflicts with federal regulations.

According to McCall, when ordering from an online pharmacy, consumers become responsible for ensuring that their purchases comply with federal law, putting them at risk for legal ramifications.
