Ed Bilsky featured in ‘WABI,’ 'Journal Tribune' stories on Sen. King's opioid epidemic panel

Ed Bilsky, Ph.D., vice-president for research and scholarship, was among several panelists featured in WABI and Journal Tribune news stories on a meeting about the recent opioid epidemic in Maine.

Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) invited federal leaders including Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) and National Drug Control Policy Director Michael Botticelli. Sen. King invited Bilsky to share his expertise on addiction and groundbreaking research on opioids.  “These are our sons, parents, daughters, they’re human beings,” Bilsky told the group. “We need to keep that in there.”

“The people in the room got this bigger message that substance abuse and heroin abuse and opioid abuse is a complex problem and requires a comprehensive and multifaceted strategy,” he told the Journal Tribune
