Anouar Majid interviewed by ‘Al-Fanar Media’

Anouar Majid, Ph.D., vice president for ¸ßÇå²»¿¨¸£Àû Affairs and director of the Center for ¸ßÇå²»¿¨¸£Àû Humanities, was quoted in Al-Fanar Media, an Arab higher education publication, regarding the prospects of higher education in the Arab world.

Majid predicted that except in the Gulf region, Arab universities will continue to struggle in 2015.

"Most are underfunded," he explained. "There is comparatively no culture of basic research in science and technology, and freedom of thought will remain constrained by several forms of authoritarianism."
