UNE-Cumberland County Jail partnership acknowledged by MPBN

 UNE's Westbrook College of Health Professions (WCHP) appeared in an MPBN news article for its partnership with the Cumberland County Jail (CCJ). 

The article described the month-long pilot drug treatment program at the CCJ, organized by Kerry Dunn, J.D., Ph.D., M.S.W., assistant professor of Social Work. During the interview, Dunn explained that UNE students and faculty are volunteering their time and talents to develop a positive community within the jail, providing health education, wellness activities and support. 

Dunn also mentioned  the importance of providing rehabilitation for inmates to curb the drug addiction epidemic within the state, and the need for grant funding to continue the program after the 30-day trial period ends,
