Michele Polacsek publishes article in ‘Childhood Obesity’

Michele Polacsek, Ph.D., M.H.S., associate professor in the School of Community and Population Health, is the lead author of an article titled "Sustainability of Key Maine Youth Overweight Collaborative Improvements: A Follow-Up Study,” which was recently published in Childhood Obesity.

The paper describes a follow-up study that took place in 2012 highlighting the effects of an evidence based primary care obesity prevention program in Maine (2004-2009) called the Maine Youth Overweight Collaborative (MYOC). Provider knowledge, beliefs, practices, patient experience, and office system improvements were largely sustained or enhanced three years post-intervention.

Co-authors are from MaineHealth, MaineGeneral, Maine Medical Center, Colby College and the Harvard School of Public Health.
