Jennifer Gunderman presents at the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting & Exposition

Jennifer Gunderman, M.P.H., assistant lecturer for UNE's School of Community and Population Health, presented, "The 11th Essential Public Health Service: Strengthening Community," at the American Public health Association Annual Meeting & Exposition.

Data indicates that the dynamics of a community, particularly the social ties within it, significantly impact health outcomes. Gunderman's presentation shared her perspective that public health should shift some focus from disease specific interventions to interventions that strengthen community, including its relationships and cultural elements.
