David Wayne presents internationally; volunteers expertise for Phoenix area community program

David Wayne, Ph.D., associate dean of Planning, Assessment and Innovation at the College of Osteopathic Medicine, recently presented two papers at the Association of Medical Educators of Europe (AMEE) conference in Milan, Italy, and served as a volunteer facilitator for the Valley Leadership program in the Phoenix, Arizona area.

Wayne's presentations at AMEE were titled 鈥淟earning Styles to Advance Professional/Collaborative Learning in Healthcare Education鈥 and 鈥淔aculty Assessment in Healthcare.鈥 Having two presentations accepted by AMEE is a rarity, as fewer than 25 percent of all proposals are accepted.

AMEE attracts educators from around the globe and is considered by many to be the best medical education conference in the world.

In September, Wayne also voluntarily facilitated planning for an event for sixty community leaders in the Phoenix area in  the Valley Leadership program. The purpose of the event, a kick-off to a year of community involvement for the participants, was to refine the communication, decision-making, problem-solving and leadership skills of the sixty individuals chosen. The individuals included government officials, business leaders and directors of non-profit organizations.
