Ali Ahmida book republished in translation

Beyond Colonialism and Nationalism: History, Culture, and Politics (Palgrave Press 2000) by Ali Abdullatif Ahmida, Ph.D., professor and chair in the Department of Political Science, has been republished in translation by The Centre of Arab and the Libyan Ministry of Culture.

A collection of essays by scholars from three contents, the book provides a critique and assessment of the field of North African Studies, especially colonial and nationalist paradigms.

The book has received favorable reviews in Europe and the United States and has been used in college courses on both sides of the Atlantic. It provides alternative methods to history, culture, and politics beyond colonial and nationalist epistemology, and in ways predicted the revolutions in the region since 2011.
