David Livingstone Smith quoted on lying in politics in Portuguese newspaper

David Livingstone Smith, Ph.D., professor of philosophy, was quoted in an op-ed column in the Portuguese newspaper Diario as Beiras on August 2.  The piece, by Bruno Paix茫o, is entitled "O soro da verdade" ("Truth serum") and concerns lying in politics.

Smith is the author of Why We Lie:  The Evolutionary Roots of Deception and the Unconscious Mind and Less Than Human: Why We Demean, Enslave, and Exterminate Others (winner of the 2012 Anisfield-Wolf award for non-fiction).
