Noah Perlut to speak about gray squirrels

Assistant Professor Noah Perlut, Ph.D., of the Department of Environmental Studies, will speak on September 25, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at the Topsham Public Library as part of the monthly naturalist seminar series held by the Cathance River Education Alliance.  His talk is titled 鈥淐ommon but totally unknown: Gray Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) habitat use in southern Maine.鈥

According to Perlut, little research has been done on the gray squirrel, despite its common presence.  Two years ago, his students began tracking squirrels with ear tags and radio collars.  Perlut hopes his students will be the first to determine the average size of gray squirrels.
