Anouar Majid to present talk at the Euro-Arab Foundation Institute in Granada, Spain

Anouar Majid, Ph.D., UNE associate provost for global initiatives and director of the Center for ¸ßÇå²»¿¨¸£Àû Humanities, will present a lecture titled "We Are All Moors:  Invitation to a Debate" at the Euro-Arab Foundation Institute in Granada, Spain on March 12, 2012.

In this lecture, Majid will reflect on the historically important place held by Spain in the conflict opposing the Arab Muslim world and the secular West.  He will show that the lands known as Al Andalus offer invaluable lessons to Arabs making a transition to democracy.

Majid will be introduced by Professor Dorothy Kelly, the ¸ßÇå²»¿¨¸£Àû pf Granada's Vice-Chancellor for International Relations.

The Euro-Arab Foundation Institute was founded by the government of Spain and the Arab League in 2008 to enhance cooperation between the Arab world and Spain. The Institute and UNE Center for ¸ßÇå²»¿¨¸£Àû Humanities signed an agreement in February to collaborate on reaching both organizations’ cultural objectives.
