MPBN radio covers IPEC symposium on veterans health and healing

The MPBN public radio on April 7, 2011 covered a UNE symposium on "The Health and Welfare of Veterans." The symposium is a shared learning event for students of the Westbrook College of Health Professions. This year students from the College of Pharmacy participated as well.

MPBN looked particularly at a proposal by keynote speaker former Maine Congressman Tom Andrews. Andrews has been pushing for the creation of a Veteran's Trust Fund. He said Congress needs to set aside enough funds for the waves of veterans returning from Iraq, Afghanistan - and soon, Libya - so timely attention to their needs is guaranteed. The story examines reactions to the proposal from others at the symposium. .
