Dash Masland's National Geographic competition coverd by local media

On March 17, the and on March 21 Journal Tribune (Biddeford) published stories on UNE M.S. graduate Dashiell 鈥淒ash鈥 Masland '09, who is competing in the 2011 National Geographic Channel Expedition Granted contest. The contest started March 13 and runs through April 7, placing two National Geographic Young Explorers head-to-head to win $10,000 toward an expedition of their choice. 

Masland received her master's degree in marine sciences at UNE and was awarded a National Geographic Young Explorers grant during her studies. She was selected to be one of two Young Explorers to compete for this second funding opportunity in a competition called Expedition Granted.  Masland and her opponent make on-air appeals and provide weekly blog updates to solicit votes.
