Brian Duff quoted in story on Maine gubernatorial race polls

Brian Duff, Ph.D., associate professor of political science, was quoted in a news story on on Oct. 17, 2010 that pondered the wide discrepencies in polls on the Maine gubernatorial race. For instance, two polls released on the same day showed a 10 point difference for Eliot Cutler, the independent candidate for governor. One pegged him with 21 percent of the vote, while another gave him only 11 percent. "This is almost what you would expect at this point in a race like this," Duff said. "A lot of voters haven't made up their minds and it's a downright confusing field right now." He added, "The reason you're seeing this chaos in the polls is because the candidates are just throwing a lot of things out there to see what sticks with the voters."
