Art Gallery's 'Going Forward,Looking Back' featured as cover story in Art New England magazine
An exhibition at UNE's Art Gallery on the Portland Campus was featured in a three-page cover spread with seven photographs in the November/December 2010 issue of magazine. The exhibition, titled 'Going Forward, Looking Back,' was a survey of 24 contemporary New England photographers practicing historical photographic processes. The show, which was curated by UNE Professor Emeritus Stephen Halpert, was on display at the Art Gallery from Nov. 17, 2009 - Jan. 31, 2010. Reviewer Carl Little writes: "The photographers in this show continue, in certain respects, to seek to overhaul reality - or at least to represent it in a wonderful range of tones and values that hark back to the pioneering days of the art while often playing a modern turn on subject and/or representation." The exhibition is currently on display at Maine Media Workshops, Rockport, Maine.
