UNE鈥檚 PSI CHI Honor Society Chapter welcomes 26 new members for 2025-2026 academic year

The PSI CHI Honor Society recognizes outstanding academic achievement in psychology and related fields

The 高清不卡福利 of New England鈥檚 chapter of PSI CHI, the International Honor Society in Psychology, welcomed 26 new undergraduate members during its spring induction ceremony on April 10.

PSI CHI recognizes outstanding academic achievement in psychology and related fields and aims to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship in the science of psychology and related disciplines.

At UNE, the School of Psychology and Brain Sciences extends eligibility beyond psychology majors and minors to include students in the Animal Behavior and Neuroscience programs. These closely aligned disciplines reflect the interdisciplinary nature of behavioral science at UNE and provide students with a comprehensive academic experience.

The event was organized by the UNE chapter PSI CHI executive board, which includes president Jadyn Stevens (Psychology, 鈥27) and vice president Megan Burns (Psychology, 鈥26). The program was coordinated with support from PSI CHI faculty advisor Jennifer Stiegler-Balfour, Ph.D., interim director and professor in UNE鈥檚 School of Psychology and Brain Sciences, who currently serves on the global PSI CHI committee focused on expanding chapters worldwide and is an invited speaker at the 2026 PSI CHI Symposium at the Association for Psychological Sciences conference in Spain. Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Wesley Renfro, Ph.D., offered opening remarks and congratulated the inductees and their families.

Founded in 1929 at the International Congress of Psychology, PSI CHI is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is affiliated with both the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association for Psychological Science (APS). With more than 1,000 chapters worldwide and over 1 million members, PSI CHI ranks among the largest and most prestigious honor societies.

Membership in PSI CHI is a lifetime distinction that offers students meaningful opportunities for professional growth. Beyond the honor of induction, members gain access to leadership roles at both the chapter and national levels, resume鈥慴uilding experiences, and eligibility for a wide range of awards, grants, and scholarships. PSI CHI also provides an important avenue for students to expand their professional networks, connecting them with peers, faculty, and professionals with similar interests, an advantage that can give them a competitive edge on the job market and in graduate school applications.

鈥淚 am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to be inducted into this organization,鈥 said Logan Render (Psychology, 鈥27). 鈥淏eing eligible for PSI CHI has been a goal of mine since I first became a psychology major; reaching this milestone feels incredibly meaningful. I鈥檓 very excited to take on a more active role within PSI CHI as chapter Treasurer this upcoming academic year.  I look forward to being able to contribute in a way that supports both the organization and my fellow members, while continuing to grow as a student and future professional.鈥

Graduating PSI CHI members will wear silver and blue honor cords or stoles at UNE鈥檚 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 16, recognizing their academic achievement and commitment to the fields of psychology, animal behavior, and neuroscience.
